Signs of Trouble When Inspecting Your Trees

Trees are not invincible. If you've noticed leaves falling too soon or branches have been falling off, it's time to get in touch with us. Signs include:


  • Excessive Leaf Fall: If the leaves on your tree start falling off excessively or are noticeably more bare while other branches are covered, it could be signs of a dead branch.
  • Missing Bark: Old bark falls off as trees age and is replaced with new, healthy bark. With dead branches, the bark will not be replaced. If your branches are missing bark, get in touch with us.
  • Lack of Flexibility: Try and bend a branch if you can reach it. Healthy branches are flexible. Dead branches are stiff and break easily. If you try bending a branch and hear cracking sounds coming from it, it’s a dead branch.
  • Scratch the Surface: Right beneath the surface of a tree is the cambium which is a thin layer of green inside healthy trees. Lightly scratch the surface to see if it is green underneath.
